Is skill needed in PvE DPS?

Is skill really needed in PvE? In soloing, we all know what will happen whenever he aggro any mob; It runs toward you or if it’s a caster it stays at a distance and waves it’s hands. If its health gets low, it runs in a direction governed by Murphy’s law, and you run after it, or wave pretty lights at it. Really, the AI for general mobs is the same at level 1 as it is at 80, your entire strategy is largely dependant on your class. In raiding, it is more of a matter of having good DPS coordination (I am fairly inexperienced at tanking, and am not a half bad healer, but DPS is my cup of tea. So don’t come after my hide if I only talk about DPS.) and staying out of green stuff, and flames. As long as you know what your rotation is, and who your fighting, a great deal of skill is not needed, just persistence. Or is it that because we have logged so many hours on our characters, that we have it down so cold, we could destroy anything in our sleep, so long as we keep our rotation going and don’t stand in green stuff? Are the fights too simple, our foes too stupid? Are we nothing but cattle who pay our 15$ each month just so we can do something that we can already do?

Why we will never see another class.

Take a look at the quadruple Venn Diagram above. As you can see, each classic class has it’s own little nitch, save the warlock and mage, who are separated by burst-sustained DPS anyway. The DK, sharing the same nitch as the warrior, however, is overshadowed in tanking due to lack of shields. There is also the issue of runes, whenever a DK’s runes are on cooldown the he/she has a hard time maintaining aggro and keeping up a good defense. So the healers must increase their HPS, drawing more aggro, which the DK can’t keep up anyway, it’s just a bad situation. Dk’s can be overshadowed in DPS as well, when up against the “pure” DPS classes, especially Rouges. So, if we are ever to see another class, where will they go? There will never be a “Pure” healing class or “Pure” tanking class, if a class can’t DPS, than whats the point? The only way I could ever see a new class rising would be if it was some kind of “omega hybrid” that would outstrip the druid for versatility, but than, the druid becomes obsolete. Is there anyway to introduce a new class without voiding another?

WoW is my coffee. I admit it. Every morning at 5:55 I get up and play WoW for 45 minutes. It wakes me up, gets me ready for the day by slaying more than a few mobs, and actually give me a reason to drag myself from my wonderful dreamland. Into another dreamland. Admittedly, you can’t raid at 6 AM on any North American server, PvP is slow, and I don’t bother trying to get my arena friends to follow my insane schedule. So O-dark Thirty is generally reserved for playing the AH, leveling alts, and farming what can be farmed. I’m not addicted to WoW, Honest, but I am addicted to my morning cup of keyboard. As you may be thinking about now, Tuesdays, not Mondays, are my least favorite. Especially with extended maintenance in preparation for some new patch or another some odd reason Blizzard will never tell us. I find those days to be especially slow and tiring, with my temper being fairly short. I doubt very much that Blizz will move the time for just for us non-morning people. I can stay up all night, but don’t get me up without my Pick-me-up!
